Durante esta época turbulenta, Manuela luchó en varias batallas, consiguiendo el rango de coronel, y fue eventualmente encarcelada, herida y por último desterrada de por vida de Colombia y Ecuador.

Nuestras Vidas Son los Ríos dramatiza la lucha de Suramérica por su independencia no solo desde el punto de vista de Sáenz, si no también desde la mirada de otras dos mujeres excepcionales: Natán y Jonotás, las esclavas de Sáenz. Con este paso audaz, Manrique muestra diferentes (y a veces encontradas) versiones de Bolívar, de Manuela y de las consecuencias importantes del movimiento de independencia—no solo para los descendientes españoles, si no también para los esclavos y para la enorme población indígena de los Andes.

Este libro es uno de los mejores que he leido en tiempos. Se me hacia dificil bajarlo. El autor te transporta a los magnificos e excitantes tiempos de la revolucion de Sur America dirigida por Simon Bolivar, pero contandonos la historia de la heroina Manuela Saenz narrando su historia ella misma y sus 2 esclavas a las cual veia como su unica familia.
Anhelo leer mas obras magistrosas como estas de Jaime Enrique.

This is one of my favorite novels. The author offers a historic account of Simon Bolivar's Campaign to liberate 5 countries on South America, from the voice of his beloved partner Manuelita Saenz. It is the feminine approach to the liberation of the Andes, filled with courage, idealism and passion.

Esta historia novelada sobre la vida de Manuela Saenz es muy facil de leer y muy entretenido. Si bien es cierto que todo esta bajo la pluma subjetiva del autor, al mismo tiempo, podemos refrescar ciertos hechos historicos muy relevantes en la disolucion de la Gran Colombia.
Juan Manrique nos dibuja a una Manuela Saenz muy creible y nos describe al Libertador Simon Bolivar como un hombre de carne y hueso.
Lo que mas me gusto es que desperto mi interes nuevamente en investigar mas sobre la vida de estos personajes y el gran momento historico que vivieron.

Helpful, but the second edition works too

The expanded third edition is not a true improvement on the second edition. This text was written for an NIH course on clinical research, so the average reader will find many of the chapters either too specific or too narrowly focused on NIH policies. The overall content is strong, but you may be better served by purchasing a used copy of the second edition at a much lower price.

This was a required book for one of my classes. But it is an excellent source of facts & tips. I still have yet to read much of the book, but I will definately be keeping this one as a reference for many years.

Very good for research, was shocked at how large it was. Had too much information, but at the end of the day there is so much in-depth knowledge if you can take the extra time to read

Covers most interview topics in RTL Design

The book is a breadth-first treatment of all things related to Digital Design for ASICs. Having gone through the book, I feel the book should have been named "Principles of Digital Design" or something along those lines as it only tackles RTL for a whole 2 chapters. However, the content in the rest of the book is relevant to all Front-End Design tasks and I feel that it would be worth while for every aspiring ASIC design engineer to get themselves a copy to prepare for interviews and for tasks they will encounter at the work place.

nice book to get idea about design aspects at RTL

I liked the book and it is very well organized in terms of the different domains of RTL design aspects like clock domain crossing analysis, timing constraints, DFT and Power.
It really helped me in getting my technical interview through as it gives really good basic insight about each of these areas and can be a good reference book for RTL analysis and related issues/handling.

Total waste of time......

it is kind of waste of money....it goes over the ASIC flow and things which are detected through simulations or verification are explained....it is a very lame attempt to teach something..... I think springer has been printing a lot of books from many "industry" authors just to make money..... it is supposed to be a book on VLSI RTL although it is more of ASIC verification book..... it is not worth the money ....

About the Author
Camille-Georges Wermuth PhD, Prof. and Founder of Prestwick Chemical, was Professor of Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg, France from 1969 to 2002. He became interested in Medicinal Chemistry during his two years of military service in the French Navy at the "Centre d’Etudes Physio-biologiques Appliquées à la Marine" in Toulon. During this time he worked under the supervision of Dr Henri Laborit, the scientist who invented artificial hibernation and discovered chlorpromazine.

Professor Wermuths’ main research themes focus on the chemistry and the pharmacology of pyridazine derivatives. The 3-aminopyridazine pharmacophore, in particular, allowed him to accede to an impressive variety of biological activities, including antidepressant and anticonvulsant molecules; inhibitors of enzymes such as mono-amine-oxidases, phosphodiesterases and acetylcholinesterase; ligands for neuro-receptors: GABA-A receptor antagonists, serotonine 5-HT3 receptor antagonists, dopaminergic and muscarinic agonists. More recently, in collaboration with the scientists of the Sanofi Company, he developed potent antagonists of the 41 amino-acid neuropeptide CRF (corticotrophin-releasing factor) which regulates the release of ACTH and thus the synthesis of corticoids in the adrenal glands. Professor Wermuth has also, in collaboration with Professor Jean-Charles Schwartz and Doctor Pierre Sokoloff (INSERM, Paris), developed selective ligands of the newly discovered dopamine D3 receptor. After a three-year exploratory phase, this research has led to nanomolar partial agonists which may prove useful in the treatment of the cocaine-withdrawal syndrome.

Dr. Wermuth is co-author or editor of several books, the author of over 250 scientific papers and holds nearly 60 patents. Professor Wermuth is also the recipient of the Charles Mentzer Prize of the Société Française de Chimie Thérapeutique, the Léon Velluz Prize of the French Academy of Science, the Prix de l'Ordre des Pharmaciens by the French Academy of Pharmacy and the Nauta Award of the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry for Pharmacochemistry in 2010.

This book definitely deserves a 5 star rating because it is terrifying! R.L. Stine did a really good job. I would recommend this book to readers out there that want a thrill or chill. When Josie receives life threatening valentines her life is getting freaky. She could swear she heard her sister call her from the intercom. Will she make it out alive? This was a great story, one of my favorites. Mostly because it was realistic in the fact that the characters feel real pain and depression. That made gave it a four star for me and then the killer was the fifth. Highly recommended.

Inside Lives: Psychoanalysis and the Growth of the Personality

I recommend "Inside Lives" to anyone who is seeking a coherent description of what it is like to be a human being.

The author has set out to describe how a personality tries to develop, from its earliest starting point to its death, on the basis of fundamental drives that are common to all. I already believe such drives exist, and I have some familiarity with and acceptance of the drives she identifies, but I was very curious to see if her description gave meaningful shape to my experience of my own life and the lives of others I have known. It did, very much so, and this is why I recommend it.

I reckon there is scope for the writing to be clearer, but that is a minor criticism.

wards, Perot, who got his own people out of

Iran, in '83, got Bo into and out of SE Asia

twice in the middle '80's after Perot accused

Bush of flubbing on Reagan's original number

one campaign promise of 1980. But when the

bright lights got on Perot in '92, he wilted

after Bush the Elder (father of 90 I.Q. idiot

presently @ 1600 Penn. Avg.) threatened to

wreck Perot's daughter's wedding. Perot, how-

ever did a good job with his economic graphs,

Kirk Douglas is now 95, but in this book he turns his memory back to 1959 when he decided to make the film "Spartacus". This is not simply a film memoir though, as interesting as that might be, because the film had an important and historic event attached to it - the fact a blacklisted writer was given screen credit under their own name for the first time since the fears of McCarthyism.

Dalton Trumbo was one of the most respected writers in Hollywood when he went to jail in 1947 for refusing to incriminate colleagues after he was brought before the House Un-American Activities Committee (actually before McCarthy, although that is the name best associated with the witch hunts that followed). While in another prison for similar reasons, author Howard Fast was writing the novel "Spartacus", which was later turned down by seven publishing houses as the author was blacklisted and which he ended up publishing it himself. When Dalton Trumbo was released he went to Mexico and was left having to write under assumed names.

This then is the story of Kirk Douglas discovering Howard Fast's novel and deciding that he wanted to make it into a movie. It is a tale as epic as the movie itself, as he fights a rival production, "The Gladiators", finds his cast (despite a less than enthusiastic Charles Laughton), has problems finding a leading lady, more problems finding a director, fights the censors and deals with the issues that using Dalton Trumbo as his screenplay writer causes. When Douglas decides to use Trumbo's real name on the movie credits he is the first to end the Hollywood blacklist and it is here that the main story of the book is contained. This is a very interesting read by a man who has kindly shared his memories with us and whose brave actions gave back more than one person their career. It was personally important to Dalton Trumbo, but it was an event that changed Hollywood and the film industry, which had been mired in a time of fear of paranoia since the 1940's. Lastly, I read the kindle edition of this book and it contained the illustrations.

This wonderfully written memoir focuses on the making of an epic film at a crossroads of American history, when the political excesses of Senator Joseph McCarthy and his anti-communist witch hunts destroyed lives and left a dark cloud of secrecy, betrayal, and fear hanging over the film industry.

Dalton Trumbo, who had gone to prison for no real crime, had for ten years been unable to work under his own name, or even for the kind of money his fame and skill should have commanded. He was one of many who suffered similar fates, because in the political climate of the time, to recognize them professionally was to put your own career in danger. Kirk Douglas wanted to produce an epic film from a book by a blacklisted author, Howard Fast (a risky proposition in itself), and wanted Trumbo to write the screenplay. But to acknowledge the screenwriter's work--or even to allow rumors of it--was to risk losing his film, his income, his career.

What happened is no less than a Hollywood legend, told by the man at the center of it. Kirk Douglas is 95 years old, and has been acting, making films, and writing books for most of that time. This book beautifully details a watershed in his extraordinary life and in the life of film.

Easy n fun to read

As I read this book, I mentally hear the words being spoken by Mr. Douglas. It is written as if he were sitting next to you after dinner and telling you about the "time" through which he lived. It is anecdotal in style with his reflections on each story he conveys. I have learned and shared with others little "factoids" of which I was not aware. I am not normally a "book person" 'cause I fall asleep too easily but this book is such easy reading, I have not conked out yet while reading it. Also, I am a stop n go reader and the content lends itself nicely to that quirk. Buy it, read it and enjoy it and yes, learn from it. Mr. Douglas conveys the ugliness of the McCarthy era and the blacklist it produced. I can't help but wonder what those blacklisted victims, whom were kept from earning a living because they were accused of being communist would say today, if they knew companies like Walmart and Apple have made their fortunes using real communists to earn "their" living. Thank you Mr. Douglas!
