I really enjoy Lauri Robinsons books. This one was a quick read and enjoyable. I liked that she had an epilogue which also seems to make the story better. Her stories are also sensual adds to the story.

About the Author
John Milton was born on 9 December 1608. He studied at St Paul's School and then at Christ's College, Cambridge. He wrote poetry in Latin and Italian as well as English and travelled in Italy between 1638 and 1639. He married Mary Powell in 1642 but their relationship quickly broke down and they lived apart until 1645. They had four children, three daughters and a son who died in infancy. During the Interregnum after the execution of Charles I, Milton worked for the civil service and wrote pamphlets in support of the new republic. He also began work on his masterpiece, Paradise Lost, as early as 1642. His first wife died in 1652 and he married again in 1656, although his second wife died not long afterwards in 1658. When the monarchy was restored in 1660 Milton was arrested but was released with a fine. In 1663 he married his third wife, Elizabeth Minshull and he is also thought to have finished Paradise Lost in this same year. He published the companion poem, Paradise Regained, in 1671.John Milton died on 8 November 1674.

Secondly, at the level of epidemiology and molecular pathogenesis there are important questions regarding the aetiology of pre-invasive lesions; an understanding of which might lead to possible chemopreventive strategies. For example, it would be helpful to know the extent to which the likelihood of developing a pre-invasive lesion is influenced by lifestyle or genetic factors and how these factors influence the risk of progression to invasive disease. At the molecular level we need to understand the pathways and molecular mechanisms, both genetic andepigenetic, by which cells achieve the capacity to invade.
Thirdly, in order make clinical progress we need biomarkers to identify and risk stratify individuals with pre-invasive lesions. A new character to love

I don't read much crime anymore, but I've read Sophie Littlefield's paranormal novels, so I took up Edelweiss' free read of BLOOD BOND.

Police procedural, rich folk, black sheep - so far so unremarkable. But lead character Joe Bashir reeled me in immediately, relatable and likeable. And he's hot. Usually when publisher's summaries mention a "sexy" character, I scoff, but this time it's warranted. Not only that, but the publisher respects Joe Bashir enough to NOT give him a mantitty cover. Albeit it's kind of a nothing of a cover instead, but this is from Simon & Schuster's digital-first - or digital-only - imprint. So why is this decent, well-written novel with an appealing lead character NOT in hard copy? Then again, the publishing industry has made some very strange choices recently that make me cringe.

Great Mystery, Interesting Characters, I Highly Recommend

It has been said before and I will say it again - I am a huge fan of Sophie Littlefield's adult novels. There is something very unique about the books she writes. Her novels are extremely character focused and emotionally intense. Blood Bond follows this trend.

The main character of Blood Bond is a first generation Pakistani immigrant, who had aspirations to be a doctor but in reaction to hate crimes perpetrated against members became a police officer. He is incredibly focused, intense but lonely. While he regularly sees his parents and his brother, he does not seem to fit in with them. He is respected and liked in his department, but does not have close friends. He has a woman that he is sexually intimate with, but they remain emotionally distant.

A wealthy pair of sisters, dysfunctional and each equally unhappy in their one ways is introduced. And thus begins the mystery, the murder and the sexual tension.

Blood Bond is a mildly complex murder mystery but the true focus of the story is the emotional relationships and the characters. This is a story where I became invested in the characters and I truly liked the main character. I am not sure if this is a first time for Ms. Littlefield in writing a male point of view as the main character, but she does it well. I cannot wait for the next installment of this series.

Great new crime series!

I really enjoyed Sophie Littlefield's BLOOD BOND and especially the lead character she created, Jamshed "Joe" Bashir. I appreciate a good mystery and Ms. Littlefield certainly crafted a fine one with this novel. Though I had my suspects, I thought the reveal of the whodunit was nicely paced and there were enough twists and erroneous information to keep the readers guessing. I thought the characterization throughout the novel was very strong and I am excited to see what Joe will be up to in the next novel. I liked hearing about his struggles to fit in to society as a Pakistani-American, as well as learning about his driving reason to become a cop. The story flowed well and the chain of events felt organic. I would recommend this for all mystery/police procedural readers as well as those urban fantasy readers who enjoyed Ms. Littlefield's Aftertime trilogy. Though the subject matter is very different, it is still a finely-crafted, character-driven novel that should appeal to a wide-range of readers.

For thirteen years, until 1991, he was legal advisor to, and subsequently secretary of, the Gun Trade Association. In addition, he sat on the legal and education team of WAGBI, now the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).

This is the second of a series of three treatises. Each is an incomplete section of the history without the others.
Each is excellent in its own right, expensively bound, and the set is important for any collector of antique arms.

Excellent Reference Material on British Guns

Volume 2 of Nigel Brown's series of books on British Gunmakers deal with Birmingham, Scotland & the regional gunmakers and trade workers of the 19th and 20th centuries and is even more impressive than Volume 1 (London). It also measures roughly 9" wide x 12" high, but extends 460 information packed pages in hard cover and dust jacket. As part of a set it is in all respects similar to Volume 1 with a durable dust jacket, 34 historical b&w photos and 28 truly magnificent colour photographs of guns made in these regions. It is printed on heavy mat art paper with an easy to read font size. It is a reference work, but it is coffee table quality.
Volume 2 consists of a 19-page introductory section with followed by Part 1 (p22-p67) which provides individual histories of 60 gunmaker. Part 2 (p72-p149) provides more historic and biographical information as well as detailed lists and tables of dates and serial numbers of those gunmakers of which records had been preserved. Part 3 (p152-p367) is a comprehensive list of all relevant gunmakers and related trades. Brown provides names and name changes, trades, addresses and address changes and important dates. As said at the Volume 1 review, the only thing I miss here to have made this book absolutely perfect is the biographical dates (birth-death) of the individuals listed. Part 4 (p380-p460) contains lists of the brand names, proofmarks (illustrated and defined) conversion tables (including currency conversions) as well as a detailed index.
This is an invaluable reference work for scholars and serious enthusiasts, but it is not something you can read in large doses.
