A pretty good end to the series

I waited for this book for over a year, and I have to say, it was pretty much worth it. "Final Confrontation" tells the story of Jesus' ministry on earth,along with his resurrection, from an angelic point of view. I found the view points of the various angels and demons quite interesting, especially during his birth and crucifiction.
I did find a few grammatical errors in the book, but other then that, I would definitely give this book five stars. Although I wish that the series would not have ended witht his book, I think that the author, D. Brian Shafer, did a fantastic job in both his writing and accuracy. You've probably all ready read about the life of Jesus through our (a human's) viewpoint. I would reccommend reading this book, so you can see it through a spiritual one.

Awesome!!!

I read through this book so fast that I was disappointed that it came to an end. I have been following this series from the beginning and have never been disappointed. This last book deals with the life and ministry of Christ. Shafer's treatment of the drama aruond Jesus, the devils consipring, the miracles that throw them and the search for a betrayer was ecellent. I also enjoyed the historical material included in the book about Jerusalem, the temple, Herod, etc. I am recommending this entire series to all of my friends and to my pastor. I hope they make this into a movie someday--it would be great! You listening, Mel Gibson?

this book takes you through the betrayal of Jesus as well as the crucifixion it was done so very well but reading the horrors that Jesus underwent and knowing that even on the cross Satan and his demons taunted and took joy in his suffering is enough to hurt anyone's heart. this book is awesome and I recommend anyone that loves Christian fiction to read these books such a different point of view and well written

It was untypical of the DL "The Warriors" series

To those familiar with the classic Dragonlance, Theros Ironfeld would be no stranger - the weaponsmith with the silverarm, the second in Krynn's history to forge the legendary dragonlances.
As his story was not well-detailed in the Chronicles series, DL fans would rightly expect the tale of how he got his silver arm and skills to forge the weapons that turned the tide against the Dark Queen's dragon armies. These fans would be disappointed.
The book Theros Ironfeld dealt with the protagonist as a boy volunteering to join the minotaurs when the latter raided his coastal village home. It depicted a lonely boy whose mother died and was unloved by his father, yearning to find a place for himself in the world.
There was a lot of promise in the beginning for the boy who won personal recognition from the god of the minotaur Sargas for his sense of honor. From the minotaurs, Theros learned the skills of a weapons and arms maker, equipping him for his destiny.
However, the story went downhill from there. Freed from slavery by the minotaurs for his personal honor and loyalty, Theros went knocking around Ansalon, from Sanction all the way to Solace over many many years. A few things of interest happened, I would leave the readers to discover those for themselves, which are supposed to shape the mind and character of Theros.
However, while the events were exciting, they were not lived to the potential and frankly, quite anti-climatic. Encounters which began with promising sparks simply fizzled out as Theros turned his back on the road less travelled and seemed bent on shutting himself personally from the world, concerning himself with nothing else but setting up a forge and dooming himself to a mundane life.
Readers would have thought that Theros' personal contacts with the minotaurs, Solamnic Knights and Baron Dargon Moorgoth would play significant roles later in his life but nothing doing, Don Perrin seemed to be intent on just planting the seeds which readers would never see to bloom.
The ending was rather abrupt, Sargas behaved in a rather uncharacteristic manner which would leave DL fans disappointed at the quickness the author chose to end the book.
BTW, Theros was never a gladiator under the minotaurs, nor was he ever a soldier nor chose to follow Paladine. Then again, his story in this book seemed different from those in DL gamebooks too.

One thing I should say is "AN EXCELLENT BOOK TO READ!!"

The first time I saw this book, I thought it was a boring one to read, but when my friend told me to read this one, I was finally convince that it was really a great. Find out the life of Theros when he was young until he got old being a great Master Smith in the history of Krynn. Theros is also a true devotee of Sargas, and almost gave his life to honor him. I'll make sure you will never regret this, and you will never waste your time reading this!! .

I was very dissapointed with this book, the reason i thought it would be so exciting is how they would tell how theros got his silver arm, and how he got around the making the legendary dragonlances. The book never got around to this large detail in theros's life, the author wrote too much about the low parts of theros's life instead of getting to the meat of his life. I was looking for a sequel to show me what happened to the rest of his life. i think that margeret weiss and tracy hickman should get around to writing a proper biography of Theros Ironfeld.

Very Slack Editing

I have to applaud the author for what he's tried to do in this book - to make some order out of the mess that is Western psychological terminology in respect of 'self.' A very complex task, indeed, regarding which he makes a fair effort. And, maybe someday I'll write a review of the actual subject matter of the book.

But, my three stars is based on the fact that whoever created the digital book at Karnac, or for Karnac, did a very slack job. They've obviously used OCR, and they have not gone through with a fine-tooth comb to pick up the inevitable typographical errors that attend that method. Only a few of those errors inhibit making sense of the text, but there are a lot of errors, and when you pay the exorbitant sum of $30 for a mere mobi or pcr (which you can never actually own), you are entitled to expect decent quality editing.

this is my favorite book i've ever read.i'd recomend it to any 1 who likes reading horror books.it wasn't really scary but it was interesting n exciting.the ending is a total surprise.its definately worth reading.i literally couldn't put it down.i'm not even kidding.i bought the book at the bookstore.it was worth every cent.All of stine's fearstreet books are good.

Emily's new stepsister(Jessie) takes over Emily's room,steals her clothes,also lies to everyone.Emily tries to get along with her,but she doesn't trust Jessie.Emily is terrified of her.She learns a horrible secret from Jessies diary.Has Jessie acually killed?emily must expose Jessie before its too late.

This IS the best book R.L. Stine EVER wrote!!!

I have read this book so many times I know it by heart! LOL

This book is about a girl named Emily who's father died, so her mother decides re-marry. Emily, her mother and her sister Nancy live in the same house. Her stepfather, her step sister Jessie and her step brother moves in, Emily has to share her room with Jessie, at first Jessie is kind of mean to Emily, when Jessie gets to Emily's room she takes Emily's Teddy Bear and rips the head off of it after that bad things start happening to Emily. Someone puts peroxide in Emily's shampoo and her hair gets dyed green, someone stabs Emily's dog with a knife and leaves him in the middle of the kitchen floor, someone erases Emily's whole book report that she worked on for weeks, someone sets the school bathroom on fire and locks Emily inside, Emily is scared that it might be Jessie who is trying to kill her when she finds Jessie's diary one night and reads that Jessie might have commited a murder....this book has a surprise twist and a sad ending to it. This is the best Fear Street book R.L. Stine has written.

I liked the book because it had a surprise ending. It was kind of boring at the beginning but once something bad happened it started to get interesting.

The book Stepsister was about a high school girl named Emily, her sister Nancy, and her stepsister named Jessie. One day when Jessie was taking a nice calm bath, Emily starts to read Jessie's diary. The entry she read was something that she thought that Jessie did was true. The whole time Jessie was living with them some bad things happened, for example, when Emily got home from a dance she found her dog dead. Then the next day she finds her dogs dead body in her backpack. But at the end something happens that you wouldn't expect.

I think this book will be good for anyone older than 10 because little kids they would probably think it was scary. Another reason is that there are words that little kids wouldn't understand.

Excellent Insights, But Familiar For Readers of Mr. Chipchase's Blog

This book is well researched, written and edited, offering excellent in-depth information in a very readable form. It is highly recommended reading for anyone looking for insight and inspiration on how real people use and interact with products and services in the real world. Several excellent pointers are offered to designers, marketing and corporate decision makers, and anyone interested in ethnography or futures research will also find plenty of food for thought.

For anyone not familiar with design research or Mr. Chipchase's extensive work in this field Hidden in Plain Sight is certainly a 5 star book. For me, however, as a designer doing some similar work within my narrow corporate business field, and thus having followed Mr. Chipchase's blog for years already, the book does not offer that many new insights. It occasionally felt like a recap of the blog's highlights, which is not a bad thing by any means; It's great to have them all collected in one volume. Just that the wow-effect is a bit dulled, making it a 4 star for me.

Clues for Enriching Your World

As a consumer rather than a designer, this book left me thinking how much fun it would be to do this kind of research all over the world. Although we know instinctively that cultures differ widely, learning how to look keenly at people interacting with their environment is a skill.

With product design, manufacture, purchase, and use rapidly crisscrossing the globe, people adapt products in unpredicted ways. There is undoubtedly a great deal of money involved in "getting it right" and in anticipating the next big "must have."

But you don't have to be a technology product designer to find Mr. Chipchase's insights fascinating and useful. It enriches your world as you watch your grandkids switch from talking to texting, use their cell phone to take money from their bank account and pay for their sandwich and soda, meet up with their friends with their GPS.

This is a good read - a helpful guide to change - a map to the future.

Insightful and Reflective

I read the book once before attending Jan Chipchase's speech at the Hong Kong KODW forum on 4 July. I read it through again after the forum because I did not want to miss any bits from his book. Since few years ago my first time reading Chipchase's research on the Village Phone in Kampala, I have been fan of him. Having the background of anthropology and industrial design; I am not unfamiliar with the methodologies of conducting in-depth research in a natural environment. However, the book still gave me new visions into "a professional observer of the ordinary" (where Chipchase described himself on P2). It is a very practical book, displaying many case studies and introducing the so-called "less formal" research techniques like the "pop-up studios" (P16), "threshold map" (P30), "rapid culture calibration" (P126), "macro, fish-eye and panorama tours" (P147), "strip down a product and service" (P184) and so on.

Besides, being also a practising industrial designer, the most mysterious part, at least to me, is the translation from research findings into insights. As written in the book, "how to move data into insights" (P149) differentiates good design research and great design research. There is only a fine line whether the decoding is well-translated to meet their user needs or not. This is all because there are no standard answers in this realm of socio-science plus creativity disciplines. The part on "threshold diagram" to observe when people cross a threshold has already provided much help in the decoding process, yet we still have to learn the nuances by practices and experiences, as Chipchase has repeatedly emphasized throughout the book.

Apart from the rich store of anecdote worldwide and hands on design research techniques, there are two more things in the book that impressed me. The first thing is Chipchase's heartfelt words about his life journey (P20), here I felt a lot deeper than the rest stories. The second point is his implicit criticism throughout his book (what I subjectively perceived from my reading) until he ended in the last chapter, "the real arrogance comes from those people who assume that the world's poor are not worth of their attention" (P215). We, as design researchers, and/or designers, need to take serious care of and have the great respect for the less privileged in the world. As Chipchase said, they as our customers have the right to choose, too.

Overall, I appreciate Chipchase's work and design research methodologies. Yet, what still lingers in my mind is, when Chipchase serves his multinational clients researching into the developing countries, is he acting as a drive penetrating capitalism into the emerging poor markets? What is the rationale enabling MNCs reaching new consumers utilizing design research techniques? I might have missed some of the subtleties of the original idea of Chipchase, still I have the query why Rwanda people needs visa or a concept of financial inclusion? I am deliberating.
