Birth

This is a great book, the really definitive book on Birth and much more. Very comprehensive, detailed and easy to read written by 2 people who know their stuff and are mothers themselves. Not patronising or cutesy, funny haha, a proper book written for women who want solid and researched information to make good childbirth choices in turn.

A veritable Bible of Pregnancy, Birth and Post-Natal Care

Price and Robinson have written THE text on everything you need to know about babies before, during and after their birth. While it's as comprehensive as any textbook, I read it cover to cover as their writing has an easy, conversational style.
The book leaves nothing out and will stay on your shelf as a reference whether or not you read it first in its entirety (it has a complete contents and index for looking things up). It covers every topic I can think of, but if you're experiencing a particularly unusual aspect of pregnancy (like twins) you will probably need to follow up with more detailed information from other sources (the book does cover multiple births in almost every section though).
Its contents are extremely well referenced and cover every single medical procedure, test, diagnosis and pretty much every aspect of pregnancy you could potentially experience. I did find it odd that they also consistently included naturopathic and homeopathic remedies throughout the book, even though there is no scientific evidence that these work (and in fact, solid evidence that they don't work) but perhaps they felt like catering to all markets.
However, the medical information remains completely valid and has been of huge benefit to me in understanding and helping with my wife's pregnancy. An added bonus is that all the information is Australian and directly applies to Australian experiences, including numerous government and other support services. Highly recommended if you are pregnant and using the Australian medical system. I can't recommend it enough!
[Please note that the above is a review of the 2004 1st edition, and not the updated 2010 2nd edition. I just couldn't find the 1st edition anywhere on Amazon to review.]

Highly recommended for expectant mothers

Highly recommended for expectant mothers. My wife loved this book I had bought as a gift from Australia. Now everytime we have a friend planning for a baby we gift this book. This book covers everything one needs to know about planning motherhood.
